ABOUT SHAMBALLAH RETREATS

Shamballah is the perfect place to unwind, relax and connect with like minded people and the beauty of the natural world. Our retreat center is located in Sintra National Park, by the stunning coastline with unspoiled beaches, sacred hill and lush countryside. A place we call home and that you can feel at home. After living in a school of meditation for many years, we created this healing retreat Shamballah to share the teachings that cultivate wellbeing and to continue our practice on a daily basis.

Delicious Vegetarian Food

Our food is a highlight for many of our guests and one of the reasons why we were considered one of the best retreats in Portugal. We created a menu with influences from around the world, using fresh local and mostly organic ingredients. You will get delicious freshly baked bread daily and seasonal fruits and diverse meals to show examples of how to prepare a healthy and delicious meal.

Revitalising Activities

In the Forest therapy you will be guided to slow down, connect to your senses and rhythm in a conscious way. Surfing is a playful and fun way to immerse oneself in the healing qualities of the Ocean. Sound journeys can be very powerful and create a space for deep relaxation and transformation. Guided walks can be gentle yet powerful way to exercise our body while exploring the beauty of the Natural world.

Healing Treatments

We offer different types of healing massage therapies and all of them have a holistic approach to the state of wellbeing.
Ayurvedic massage is a full body treatment that stimulates the blood circulation, respiratory system and the body’s vital energy.
ZenShiatsu is a unique form of bodywork that pressure of specific points that help relate blockage.
Watsu is a magical combination of Shiatsu in Water, with supported flotation in a beautiful water Temple, this experience allows us to go into deep states of inner listening.

Yoga and Meditation Practices

Patricia has been teaching different types of body work for more than 30 years. Her classes combine her extensive knowledge of anatomy and mind/body function with the more metaphysical world of Chakras. + info

Zarqa shares different meditation and breathing exercises that can be energising or deeply relaxing, developing the mental skills and tools to be more present, aware and connected so that you can make more conscious and positive decisions. + info

Location & Surroundings

With an extensive beach along the cliffs Praia da Aguda is wild and beautiful the access is for the adventurous ones but beauty and tranquility awaits at the end of the stairs. Along the coast, 2 km each way, you will find Magoito beach and Azenhas do Mar, a beautiful and awe-inspiring village perched on the cliffs.

This location is ideal for long walks of exploration and close contact with Nature ́s beauty. We are 10 minutes drive from Sintra ́s Cultural landscape, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage. Its Parks, Palaces, and Natural beauty will definitely nourish your senses and imagination.

Our Place

The venue is a high-quality house that can accommodate 11 persons in 4 bedrooms, a spacious master bedroom, one triple ensuite room, and two twin rooms.

The house is quite spacious with lots of light. We have a couple of rooms to read an inspiring book, connect with others and have a wonderful Ayurvedic and organic tea.
We have all the props you need for yoga and meditation, so there is no need to bring your own.

This will give you a total cost and we will send you a confirmation email with a link to pay a deposit of 30% to secure your reservation.
