WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR
YOGA RETREAT AT SHAMBALLAH?
We often practice Vinyasa Flow in the morning and Hatha, Restorative and Yin Yoga in the evenings. Patricia has been teaching different types of body work for more than 30 years so she can often incorporate other exercises and adapt to the group and individual needs. During the week classes also focus on the chakras/energy centres.
Food is a very important part of this program and usually a highlight for many of our guests. With influences from around the world, we prepare fresh and delicious meals with local and organic ingredients when possible. Breakfasts have many options on the table, with our fresh homemade sourdough bread being very popular!
The spacious house has high quality finishing providing all the comfort for your stay. With underfloor heating, you can enjoy your retreat all year round and the many differences of all seasons. Beds are very comfortable and we have different living spaces to connect with others or enjoy some quiet reading. The sun terrace is a wonderful way to get some vitamin D and fresh air. Just 10 min walking distance and you will find yourself by the cliffs and spectacular views of the Ocean.

We offer different types of healing massage therapies and all of them have a holistic approach to the state of wellbeing.

We have selected several high-quality activities with facilitators that are passionate about what they do and are motivated to share their knowledge and experience with you.
All these practices are designed to align our body and mind to their natural state of balance and equilibrium, creating a fertile environment within our body, a calm and clear mind to welcome creative ideas, curiosity, and passion to explore the journey of life.
VARIOUS TYPES OF YOGA WE PRACTICE
The morning classes are Vinyasa Yoga, a dynamic fluid sequence of asanas (postures) linked with conscious breath. These classes start with an intention (sankalpa) followed by a warm up, and a variation of the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskara), a sequence of powerful yoga poses with profound benefits.
The evening classes are Hatha and Yin and Restorative Yoga
Hatha is a type of yoga that guides practitioners through postures at a slower pace with more guidance on how to do each pose with proper alignment.
Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative.
Restorative yoga enables deep relaxation as you holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of props (blocks, bolsters, blankets and strap) to completely support you, without strain or pain, to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
Along the week each class focuses on a single chakra (point of energy or subtle body), starting with a description of its characteristics followed by the practice of various postures, mudras (hand gestures), breathing exercises and chanting of mantras (sacred sounds) to heal any imbalances, and encourage the flow of life force, and the awakening of that specific energy and its qualities.
